Description
The only way to install Urban Terror on a Ubuntu machine is to manually install it. This is a very good game that supports Linux natively. I think Ubuntu should add it to the repository.

I love the game, but not its large size.

Well, it is indeed large but it is not some little puzzle game either (and I do enjoy puzzle games)! It needs a lot of data and the engine is no lightweight as well I guess... If you can do all that goodness in half the space go and code it!;)
I remember my first copy of Baldurs Gate... they were SIX CDs but no one complained since it was an awfully good game... space alone means nothing, IMHO it's a matter of what you get for that space.

I'm for it. Most people start linux for the first time with a misconception that you can't run any good games on it. It would be nice to see this game and a few similar ones easily installable via the repositories.

If i'm not mistaken, big size comes from universal variant of the game, built for all platforms. Linux-only version, compiled for ubuntu would be smaller.

This isn't the place to request for software to be added to Ubuntu, go to launchpad.net and ask there.

Then make an another download cd available with the best software for Ubuntu.
Or have 2 boot versions a CD and a DVD.

It's a really nice game but it's big and it's not FLOSS. So I'm voting it down.

I don't think it can be included in a repository. Also because of legal issues.
But the Urban Terror developers could make a working deb package. That would make the install easier.

Psycho_zs: the platform-specific parts of Urban Terror are tiny compared to the rest of it, so unfortunately this wouldn't help much.

I'm definately in favor of this idea. If the size is the issue then put "WARNING 700+ MB" in the description and leave the choice up to the user.
If it is a legal issue then Denis would have the best idea in just having a debian package created.

I think it's a great idea too. Most Windows-users still think that Linux can't run games.
Urban Terror is a perfect example of a good game that can be run under Linux.
It's comparable to Counter Strike which is still a very popular game even though it's getting old.
I don't think that the game should be included in some Ubuntu-DVD by default but it should be easy for a new user to install.
