Description
Based on libjingle and xmpp/jabber it is already possible to do anything you can do with skype on your "ubuntubox", without the need of this fishy software (sorry my opinion).

Neither kopete or pidgin nor psi or gajim can do that "trick" at this state of development.
I think it would be great to chose one (or two - also for kde) of them and support them to achieve this goal as fast as possible.

thx xapient

i think i tried every available software.. ekiga is nice.. but its based on SIP and there is ne presence information at this time.. IMHO jabber is the protocoll with should be used.. its free an very very flexible... and there are so many jabber clients for windows, linux, osx,...

btw. most users already use jabber but there are very little that use sipphones..

yeah .. skype does .. but wouldn it be great to have a free software instead?

Idea #3554 says .. support pidgin to make it work with msn!

i say.. support some app to make it work with Jingle.. who needs msn if there is a free alternative?

i dont think this is a duplicate!
