Greetings, I would like that more support to tuner cards of TV was included, example the card TV BOX USB with chipset: Trident 5600, I believe that this more is oriented to kernel of linux, but hope that the people of ubuntu can help with this.

people need to start purchasing compatible hardware, not place pressure on the devs to get their hardware working for them.

if you knew what tv-card is compatible and where to get it am sure you wouldn't had the need to post this topic.

You are right, but your know that every day they are leaving to the market new things, and we cannot be limited to buy single it has support at the moment, is possible that the new thing has better functionalities and than good would be if in addition to that works in linux.

apoyo tu idea, pero es imposible hacer que todo el hardware funcione, si los fabricantes no crean los drivers.

la mejor ayuda que puedes brindarte a ti mismo y a la gente de Ubuntu/linux es que adquieras una tarjeta TV que si sea compatible.

si no sabes que modelo comprar yo te ayudo avisame :)

I think that even a better support to the already working webcams would be great!
I mean, to compile the drivers is not a big deal, but having to do that each time a new kernel is provided (even small security fixes or updates) is very annoying!!

I agree that it would help to buy compatible hardware in the first place, but new Ubuntu users shouldn't have to search through a website to buy new hardware for us - it goes against what we're aiming for. We should be looking at the long term effects (for new users and the success of the OS as a whole) of these sort of situations more than the short term "How can I do what I want to do?" mentality.

More on topic, I have a Pinnacle USB DVB-T stick which is not supported by default. In order to get it running I have to go through the effort of following these (http://www.2nrds.com/digital-tv-in-linux-with-em28xx-devices) steps every time there's a kernel update. I personally don't mind it, but I have many friends who wouldn't know where to start - and certainly not where to find advice.
