Idea #3585: Remove "ubuntu-calendar" wallpapers package from official repositories

Written by verb3k the 6 Mar 08 at 18:21. Category: System. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
I don't know why ubuntu developers insist that this package remains there, but it's totally a bad idea to have such a package in an official repository, knowing that ubuntu is admitted in homes with children and offices of workers where such things are highly prohibited.

Give it a rest already. Seriously. Stop being so anal. If you have children, don't install it. They can't either if they don't know your administrative password. For your information, the ubuntu-calendar wallpapers will be expanding in the future as there are people who are picking the project up and aren't as closed minded as you are.

I can take an educated guess as to what it is, but I believe you should write what 'ubuntu-calendar' is and why it's a bad idea to have it in the repositories. Simply stating that it is a bad idea will get you voted down.

Most of them seem artistic, except for the faked ones that users have submitted. Again, just don't install it if you don't want it on your computer.

Pornography is everywhere and available to anyone with Internet access, but no one is cutting the Internet access away. If you need to censor your kids from viewing that sort of stuff, there are parental controls out there for you.

I think you'll find that the majority of Ubuntu installs don't occur in childrens' homes. -1.

This is a good idea, and its getting modded down. Looks like the developers don't want people to use Ubuntu. Good Job Shuttleworth, linux for human beings indeed.

Half a dozen of wallpapers with models showing some skin, in a package not installed by default. If it offends you, dont install it. I for one love people with litle or no clothes :)
