Rationale
It would be nice if booklet printing would be built-in into printer drivers or the printing system. I know I should be able to print to a file and run a toolchain on the generated file, but I want it to be so easy that I can enable it as a standard for my prints. Even for printers that have no duplex unit.

There is a nice GUI application at http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php/printruler?content=83774 that allows booklet printing and more.

excellent application for KDE, but gtk + library for Gnome have not seen, something that is directly in the official Ubuntu repositories.
