It is nice idea to create a separate site for speading ubuntu like "spreadfirefox" site. Speadfirefox make greatest job to make firefox so popular. Spread ubuntu will be a cammunity marketing site focussing to spread the word "ubuntu" among all most every corners of the world. It is nice to give prizes like ubuntu hats, stickers and tea shirts among top achievers.

Making groups like LUGS among students and youths in every city and called them ubuntu volunteers or like. The volunteers
spread ubuntu among schools collages and other arias especially among young next generation and understanding them why ubuntu is better than proprietary Operating systems.

The "volunteers of ubuntu" also distribute free ubuntu cds among schools, collages and other people who actually needed it after every new release. They also offer free support or help to install ubuntu among average computer users.

I have a similar idea, but instead of the "get firefox" idea (because it's dull and old now, with several apps copying it), we could use "do you ubuntu too?".

Here's the thread for it: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=4250560#post4250560

I remember reading about spreadubuntu.com once. I think some guy bought the domain with the intention of doing just this, but something happened. I forget what though... According to Eldmannen, it apparently ends in Canonical getting the domain though.

Using the word "spread" is overused. It immitates spreadfirefox too much.

Maybe "love ubuntu"?
and then the slogan could be "spread the love"

Having a promotional website would be great. I've got quite a bit of experience in developing websites. If any of you want to look into it, Drupal would probably be the place to start.

The best marketing, is UNIQUE marketing.

This is just a copy of Firefox's campaign. Remember the guy who sold pixels for $1 each? He ended up with at least 1 million dollars. However, the clones of that advertising method never worked nearly as well.

What we really need is something truly unique that hasn't been done.
