Description
Ok,the next Ubuntu is called Hardy Heron, the others is called
Feisty Fawn (oh,my god) Gusty Gibbon (gosh!) Edgy Eft (blargh!)

It isnt a good marketing for a Ubuntu, it isnt had a security for a user, it isnt had a professional face.
(I am a marketing analisator)

Had better names cause these names is ridiculous

Or some use this codenames for beta versions

Ok,do you really like of this names?

Feisty Fawn (Fawn, what kind of marketing they use?)

Ok simple names like Breeze,Spring,Miami,Havaii (calm names)

Or these names (Gusty,etc...)IS USED some for codenames for beta versions

Yes, I really do the funny names.
But Breeze,Spring,Miami,Havaii are also nice names.

These names are part of a ubuntu "tradition". However, that in itself isn't a reason for keeping them as they are, and it never should be.

There would also be problems in using only using this naming pattern for alphas and betas: after the final release all the names of repositories would have to be updated. This would cause problems with the alphas and betas people all ready had installed, as ubuntu would be looking for repos that no longer exist.

Personally, I like the current naming system; I think it fits in nicely with the "human" idealism.

I love the names and I can't wait to hear the name when a new release is planned!

If it's marketing that you worry about, then you shouldn't.

Just use the plain version numbers whenever you talk to your boss about the virtues of Ubuntu.

All of those names are just internal codenames really.

Really,is very funny wait the new name is released
But when the ubuntu will be large used use these names will be a fool for the big companies

Those names who has been used and will be in use (interpid ibex) are wounderfully well thought about and show the features of the OS and are very good metapors.

Oh forget!

The names are cool
Very strange but cool...

Do you honestly believe large companies will go "Feisty fawn, sounds like a product for kids, we cant use that here".

Honestly, look around and look at the way companies advertise and some of their slogans. We have a company here called masterbeaters for instance, can you spot where they got that name?

Its just a bit of fun. Its no less silly then calling your product Tiger, leopard, panther, puma, or vista.

Yes

I like the current names.

On the othe rhand names like "Breeze,Spring,Miami,Havaii" are cheesy.

From a marketing point of view, they are catchy, untraditional.

Eventually, "big companies" are made up of individuals. It's no necessary that everything in life should have the "corporate look and feel"!.

Humanity, please.

Since the names are only codenames, it's not Canonical or Shuttleworth's fault if the names are "bad marketing". Windows called one of their systems Longhorn (I think Vista) before it was released. But unlike on Windows, many Ubuntu users prefer to continue using these names even though the official name *is* the version number. Honestly, if enough people got together, you'd see people calling 8.04 "Hungry Hippo"---it doesn't matter where the name is coming from, it's the fact that that's what users tend to refer to it as. The - names stick in the minds of users, so they call it that over anything else.

Check out www.ubuntu.com . You don't see a single reference to "Gutsy" "Feisty" "Edgy" or "Hardy". The only reference to an animal is a picture used in the official background of Hardy. 8.04 is what it's marketed as. If you don't like that people call it "Hardy Heron", then encourage *users* not to call it Hardy. I doubt that will be the case, because it's certainly easier to do an internet search on "Hardy" or "Hardy Heron" than it is to sift through the millions of pages that come up for 8.04. So your point is moot with Ubuntu itself and likely not going to do much to the users.

I'm disappointed your complaint is not only poorly written but poorly founded.

Automatic editing ruined the last sentence of the first paragraph---I meant to say "The (adjective) (animal) names stick..."
