Description
You cannot set less than 11 min. Nowadays with big lcd monitors (some above 100 W), we could save a lot of energy.
Since lcd start-up times are short it's not a problem to turn off your display, so you should have the chance to set a shorter time.

You should be able to...
Make sure your screensaver isn't set to 10 minutes.
(The monitor sleep time has to be at least 1 minute over the screensaver's, so I can set the monitor to sleep at 2 minutes idle)

Ok. Stupid me! I thought sleep time wouldn't be screensaver time dependant, but it is. Hehe!

Solved?, this should be removed then?

IMHO what pi314 found is an usability issue. There must be some way to inform the user that these 2 setting are connected.

I voted yes.

When i read the comments i realised it was a "feature" / bug. THis should be ficed.

perhaps you should be able to drag it down to the 2 minute minimum and it will drag the screensaver time down too... since the two items are related...

although it kind of annoys me that you have to wait for minimum 1 minute with blank screen if you just want screen off... not critical.

I've always been frustrated by this feature, because I've wanted my monitor to turn off much sooner than the 21 minutes minimum it's always limited me to. No where does it say that I have to adjust the screensaver (entertainment?) settings to fully utilize my power management (energy saving) settings. As far as I can tell, the screensaver/idle defaults to 20 minutes, automatically limiting every default install to a minimum of 21 minutes. I think that by default, the screensaver should be OFF, and the monitor should be set to turn off reasonably quickly.

Also, I don't think that the power management settings should be dependent on the screensaver settings, or they should both be on the same window, or something should tell you this information on the power management settings screen. I never use my screensaver, because it's a waste of energy, but I always want to save energy.

I really like gaspard.leon's idea. I think that implementing it would fix everything.
