Incorporating wine just encourages developers to keep programming for Windows. We want native applications and games.

Native is better, of course, but people have to be using Linux before they will even consider any native applications. I think WINE is helpful in getting people on board.

Part of getting people to use Linux is offering them a useful transition. You won't get developers to jump ship if we just shut them out. The important part of open source is the OPEN, platforms be damned!

Do you know wine isn't as stable as a "real" windows?
So tell me why people should migrate to linux to keep their buggy software on a more buggy plateform?
The main problem of linux is game and software develloppers not as interessed in develloping for us as for windows. (Google talk is a huge exemple, it was compilated on linux with winecpp, but I never seen a "linux version").

And you can't make "wine part of ubuntu" more than it is when you install it via apt-get, it can't be "built in the kernel" or something like that, because kernel devellopers try to make a real OS and not a "windows bis"

@XSP and @spyyder : Well you do have a point but while we provide the service for mp3s (while everyone should switch to the patent free ogg vorbis) it seems sensible to me to attach at least a special warning when launching to exe files.

This is not all about games by the way. I make use of special music programs and there is no alternative in linux as far as I know.
