Rationale
Open Office needs to come preloaded with the better dictionary and thesauras plus and easy graphical interface for adding the extensions that are available from Sun's site. This interface needs to be idiot proof or the Windows users will not move.
@hardawayd : you should provide more details, and links to the sun's page, etc... to better explain your point ! I don't perfectly got it, is it an interface IN openoffice ? Is it really possible to integrate these extras or are there problems with licences ?
I've made some changes to the idea, so that it could suit you aswell:
"Ubuntu needs to come preloaded with the better dictionary and thesaurus for Open Office plus an easy graphical interface for adding the extensions that are available from Sun's site. This interface needs to be idiot proof or the Windows users will not move."
i was playing around with open office yesterday writing some macros and it really is an astonishing piece of software. anything that encourages adoption is a good idea in my book.
I found very complex to install a dictionary with oodico.
I think two dictionaries should be installed by default.
For exemple, for me using a french version: the english and french dictionary should be installed out of the box.
(like MS-word !!)
I think it's appropriate when it comes to things like certain words not being in the dictionary. Most dictionaries miss something, but I've noticed under Ubuntu the omissions sometimes seem a little ridiculous (even if the omissions are proper nouns.)
