Idea #27841: Launcher disappears when an app is maximized

bug This idea was marked as already implemented the 14 May 11.
Written by louisdk the 9 May 11 at 22:45. Related project: Unity. Status: Already implemented
Rationale
When you maximize an application in Unity the launcher will disappear to the left side.
Personally I find this pretty annoying because I loose the overview of my desktop and what application I've opened.

The main reason with Unity is to inspire more "non-geeks" to try and hopefully use Ubuntu and I think that they feel the same way.

The launcher is a great way to see what applications you have launched. It's a great way to quickly launch new applications and open the menu so you easly can explore Ubuntu, so I don't think that it should be auto-hided.

Solution #1: Make the launcher always visible
Written by louisdk the 9 May 11 at 22:45.
Just make the launcher always visible and make it easy to change some basic launcher-settings from the control panel.

"never hide launcher" option in CompizConfig Settings Manager solves this problem.
