Idea #27733: Pinta as default image editing/paint app

Written by cattywampus the 30 Apr 11 at 20:14. Category: Graphics. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: Not an idea
Rationale
As Ubuntu strives to become a user friendly Linux distro, I believe a simple paint app should be included by default. A Windows user switching to Ubuntu is familiar with the simple Paint app included in Windows. By adding Pinta to Ubuntu's default apps, Ubuntu will allow new users to feel comfortable in the new environment. Providing Pinta will help round out the OSs default application stack.

With respect to dependencies, Tomboy Notes should have them covered, thus making Pinta a very small yet powerful addition to Ubuntu.
