I found a great picture viewer : fastone image viewer

but it runs under ... windows :(
one of its features I like the most is:
- in fullscreen, if you move the mouse pointer to the edges of the screen, a context menu is displayed:
* top edge : you can see all of your pictures side by side
* right edge : exif datas displayed
* down edge : some tools (save, next, previous, zoom...)
* left edge : tools like rotate, color adjustements...
- in fullscreen, a left clic provides a 100% zoom in the picture
