Idea #27090: Close, Maximize, Minimize buttons position isn't desirable everyone

Written by mystro256 the 31 Jan 11 at 21:36. Related project: Gnome. Status: Not an idea
Rationale
In every version before 10.04 (correct me if I'm wrong) has the close, maximize, minimize buttons on the top right for the default theme. When I installed 10.04 and 10.10, If I want to use the ambiance I have to go into gconf-editor and edit /apps/metacity/general/button_layout to ":minimize, maximize, close" rather than "close, maximize, minimize:"

My reasoning is not stubbornness but I really don't like the Mac style of window buttons, mostly because the buttons are too close to the file/edit menus; I have more than once closed a window by accident because of a mis-click (My poor dexterity doesn't help). Furthermore, I think the buttons on the right look nicer, one thing micro$oft did right.

Solution #1: Add an option in the Appearance menu
Written by mystro256 the 31 Jan 11 at 21:36.
Some people like it one way, some people like another way. Why not add the option to set it in the Appearance menu? Maybe also during installation.

Idea #23899: "Move the min, max, close buttons back to the right in 10.04", Solution #17: "Place a checkbox in the Appearance menu: Left / Right".
