Idea #2698: Allow multiple connections in NetworkManager

Written by max2k the 3 Mar 08 at 11:29. Category: Internet & Networking. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Allow to configure multiple connections in NetworkManager that can be up at the same time. This should include also the ability, which connection should be set as the default one, also including that later on enabled DHCP based connections don't overwrite the currently set default gw.

I just looked it up and it seems that
(a) NetworkManager is a GNOME project now (formerly RedHat)
(b) the above mentioned feature is already being implemented and planned to be included in the next (0.7) release.

this would require some crazy network magic so don't expect it to work perfectly or be available soon either.

Jojoman02: unless you mean crazy magic within NetworkManager, no, multiple network interfaces is not crazy or magical. In fact, it's quite common, useful, and configurable with ifconfig.
