Rationale
It should be quite good, if in a future Software Center release near description of a paid software (Nero, for example), provide some links to the free analogs (Brasero, k3b), that can be installed from the same Software Center.

Simply add in the bottom of the page, that displayed description of app, a bar, that will be displayed a list of free analogs.

Sorry. In a Software Center, ofcourse. I'm speaking about new feature - ability to get a paid apps, that will be there in 10.10.

I think if we start targetting paid apps with links to free ones we are going to drive away companies that want to provide said paid apps, this would be a bad thing.

I like the idea of adding links to other software (eg: Other applications similar to this include Foo, Bar, etc) if it is done equally among all apps, but targetting paid ones would be bad PR.
