Idea #25265: Consistent look and feel

Written by MrKim the 1 Jul 10 at 13:43. Related project: Wine. Status: New
Rationale
As Ubuntu is moving away from the traditional tray applet, some applications that are unable to adapt directly (such as those run in Wine, or those using Java) will be left behind, giving the system an inconsistent look and feel. The most probably outcome is that the tray icons of these applications will reside in a small floating window, making them very unattractive.

Solution #1: Drop down menu that groups all Wine/Java icons
Written by MrKim the 1 Jul 10 at 13:43.
Instead of having a floating window for Java and Wine applications, develop an application indicator that groups all wine and java tray icons together in a drop down menu (essentially turning the floating window into a menu). This would provide a consistent look and feel, as well as making the applications more accessible.
