Rationale
For the installation many users use the CD. At live boot you can configure the network to fetch many packages during installation.
Before the installation, at reboot all settings are lost, and many users had to reconfigure the network.
For example, do you remember the wpa key?

@The_Great_Bunghole, I don't think bud is suggesting we save all the installed packages, configured compiz settings, desktop shortcuts, etc. He just wants the network settings saved.
@Darwin Survivor, Yes, I'm not suggesting to save ALL packages, only the network settings.
@The_Great_Bunghole, I know i can write down the WPA key, but for example, for networks who require additional settings, why i have to configure it twice?!
