Description
my laptop never leaves my house. once i setup my wireless passwords/keys, i don't want to be asked on every reboot to put the same password in every time. let me decide if i want my system to be that secure or not. i've searched the forums and no one has a good solution to stop ubuntu from asking me for a password on every reboot

Here's your good solution, but -1 because I feel that this by default is a bad idea.
System->Administration->Login Window
Security Tab
Check Enable Automatic Login, Select Username

Do you have locks on you doors at home. Do you lock them..
Why do you lock them. This is the same reason for a password.
You don't have information that someone wants to get into you house, but you lock the doors anyway just in case... this is what security is. Security == Insurance. Just buy the insurance it's fee.

I agree with kasimir--there is already a way to easily enable an autologin with no password prompt. I don't see why we should make it any easier than it already is.

wow you guys don't even bother to read the issue before voting it down. i know how to setup auto-login. but if you use a laptop with wireless (as opposed to a desktop), then every time you autologin, it asks you for your default keyring password before it connects to your wireless network.
and your comment about locking doors at home is stupid. in fact, i don't lock my doors because i live in a safe area of the country. it should be my choice whether i lock them or not.

Waouh, what a stupid idea to get rid of your password protection. Any good system should PREVENT you to do that.
