Idea #2329: Provide better hardware support/driver information after Installation

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #40: Create a better hardware database.
Written by mnvcheeka the 1 Mar 08 at 22:45. Category: System. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Provide a clean and informative summary after installation which tells the user about their HW supported. Could be like:

Hardware Type - Vendor Name - Driver Installed? - Driver Name - Propreitary/Free - Link to a forum thread/wiki page/package telling about how to install the driver (Optional).

This could be an extension to the Restricted Drivers Manager app that already exists.

USE CASE:
=========
- Jim installs Ubuntu on his new PC/upgraded hardware that he recently bought with a Web camera.
- During installation, the installer says "Configuring hardware..." and it continues. Jim is happy that all his hardware is supported.
- He doesn't really use the webcam for some days.
- Later, when he is about to use it, he finds out the HW driver is not yet in place.
