Description
Today, the tty console (any console in Ctrl-F1 .. F6 and so on) don't work well with UTF-8 characters, so you can't type of see any international char (like accents).
Try typing any of the following characters in the console:
- Accented vocals: á é í ó ú
- Spanish ntilde: ñ
- Spanish punctuation symbols: ¡ ¿
- Euro symbols: € ¢
This problem is in Ubuntu since Hoary, at least.
In my opinion, Ubuntu must take care of the console, and not only of the graphical desktop.

This is a linux kernel issue. While it's a nice idea, the amount of the kernel that would need to be re-written is huge. In theory this is a good idea, in practice it's a nightmare that would take years to write.

Are people not reading or not understanding? This is a nice feel good idea, but is technically infeasible.
