When downloading in Firefox an entry into the common file operation should be done instead of opening a seperate window

Solution #2:
Solution #1 + Separate Application
Written by

solution 1 is a great idea, but why nautilus should be bothered with this, so just take that window and make it in separate application, then any application like Firefox or nautilus can use it as an indicator for file transferring and there should be an icon that shows the operation (Move, Copy, Download, ... etc)

Solution #3:
Improve user's Downloads folder
Written by

Catch all downloads in Firefox and display them into the user's download folder, including a progressbar and a speed indicator. Also do the same for torrent downloads, and add download accelleration. See mockup:

If you use the FirefoxNotify extension, when the file download is completed then a standard tooltip is displayed.
An integration in the download queue should be done with a plug-in instead of creating an external application that manage file activity.

I agree with spoob. A very elegant way to cut down on the number of windows to manage.
