Idea #21652: GUI control for apparmor

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #8827: gui apparmor.
Written by tuxpowered the 2 Oct 09 at 23:56. Category: Security. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Hi, Why has there never been a gui controlpanel for apparmor yet?

What is the use of apparmor if many of the none terminal users cant even configure it?

And trust me, there are now lots of new users of Ubuntu that never uses the terminal at all.

I think that there should be better focus on GUI solutions to many of the CLI (command line interface) programs in Ubuntu.

Solution #1: use a already existing 3rd party solution
Written by tuxpowered the 2 Oct 09 at 23:56.
I am not that fammiliar with Apparmor myself, but is there a 3rd party solution such as a gui frontend to apparmor already?

Then this one could be bug checked and installed by Ubuntu by default.

If not, the obvious solution could be to make a GUI frontend to apparmor by developers or community?

Solution #2: Link installed/installing apps with profiles
Written by aliander the 26 Oct 09 at 20:32.
it would be nice to configure appamor through a GUI, but the more comfortable (and also far more user friendly) way would be to "link" apps to the correlating appamor profile/rules

this could be done trough synaptic - i guess

(this solution wouldn't exclude the GUI btw ;))

It looks like Novell has a GUI. Not sure how much work it would be to get it into Ubuntu, but it sure would be nice.
