Description
Before I used Ubuntu I was using Suse. While installing Suse they have a sort of slideshow in which they explain what for example OpenOffice is.

This helped me a lot of understanding Suse, and how it was different from XP. Why doesn't Ubuntu use this option?

Hi,

while installing Ubuntu with the default Desktop CD you can literally use and explore the system yourself. Isn't that a more usefull feature than a static slideshow?

Well, the liveCD is offcourse great if you know how it works. But as a newbie at Ubuntu, i didnt know where to find info and good tutorials.

When I was a Suse user, (newbie to linux) i wanted a look-a-like word app. But i didn't know that Openoffice was that app which was by default installed.

This can be explained in the time while installing. Maybe include a checkbox if you want a tour while installing?

It's not exactly a tour, but the default homepage for Firefox when you install Ubuntu explains how and where to get help and informations about the system.

Stop bloating my install! I want my distro, not entertainment.

The default Ubuntu home page, the menus, the help browser, and the live CD are plenty. Too many choices and too much bling simply confuse people.

Strictly optional: A screencast video, streamed over the Internet, like the Apple "Guided Tour" videos... :-)

Would be fine too. But now im studying the kernel for example, and I can't get my info from one source. Why cant the Ubuntu community set up a Ubuntu-study site?
