Idea #20976: Command lines + GUI : "show details" option can be chosen by default

Written by Ebanjo the 9 Aug 09 at 00:33. Related project: Gnome. Status: New
Rationale
The update-manager can "show details" (command lines) by default :

gconf-editor (Alt+F2) allows to have this preference (with "apps" menu),

but this options doesn't exist when ubuntu is checking for new updates (just during their installation)

The window "show details" isn't open by default during program setup, too.

Solution #1: Create a new input/entry
Written by Ebanjo the 9 Aug 09 at 00:33.
Create a new input/entry in gconf-editor/apps options list
or in the System/Preferences/Windows menu.

So we won't always have to click "show details" to see what's happening (while we are waiting).

Best regards

Hmm. Why bother with Update Manager at all? Why not just open a terminal window and update manually?
