Idea #2069: LDAP for Edubuntu

Written by hpm the 1 Mar 08 at 07:41. Category: Server. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
We have just recently supplied schools in Tanzania with 200 Thin Clients on Edubuntu Terminalservers (7.04) in our project Linux4Afrika.
For normal schools this is a great solution. We also want to implement Universities in our project with the next 600 Thin Clients. Therefore Edubuntu should have LDAP support for user management. Best solution would be to ask during installation which kind of authentication (passwd or LDAP).

All the tools you need are already available in Synaptic.

no they aren't. if it were then you could install a package and enable authentication against LDAP. Which package allows this? I haven't found any that work properly.
