Solution #2: Integrate Wine to Ubuntu
Written by fernandoc1 the 13 Jul 09 at 18:48.
Would be great if we could have wine integrated with Ubuntu. If we are Linux users, communists, and fight against the Microsoft monopoly, we should increase the compatibility of Ubuntu with Windows, and so people can quickly come to our Ubuntu community.
My idea is to ask the user, at the installation process, if he wish to add Windows programs compatibility, and then the setup will install Wine.
I know that this solution is not directly linked with the main topic, but it would increase the experience of the beginners.

you are absolutely right. even novice-experts like me would benifit, it would be quicker to set things up.

thats why i like ubuntu. you can get as technical as you want but computer-illiterates like granny can still use it.

What would these 'presets' do?
Is this a workaround for a bug?

@cheesehead: As far as I understand, presets would work similarly to the way that Wine works now with per-application profiles and such. Sounds like a good idea, as it increases useability without reducing flexibility. I also love the idea of integrating Wine into Ubuntu.
