Description
Incandescent light bulbs are obsolete and soon to be banned in many countries. We should change the light bulb in the ubuntu brainstorm logo to an energy-saving Compact Fluorescent light bulb. :)

I have to give this a vote up! What you think about, you bring about--

I daresay that even when light bulbs are just a faint memory, they will still be the iconic image for an idea. It's just too firmly ingrained in the public consciousness.

Why not just skip the flourescent and go straight to an LED bulb. :)

It's well worth doing - might help change some attitudes!

Who bloody cares? It's a logo, not a political statement.

Unfortunately this brainstorm gets more pointless ideas and personal rants than ideas for actually improving Ubuntu.
This is just one of the list of pointless entries.

heh. This makes about zero impact, but I'll +1 it to give others a good laugh as well. I presume this suggestion was intended as half-joking, it's a good one at that :)

CFLs are a crock and they expose everyone to Mercury when they are broken.
I'll support an LED bulb though.

Thumbs up. (+1)
I think actually is a very good idea (albeit quite funny at the same time), I’ve always found small details like this very interesting and they keep my interest up.
Personally, I believe Ubuntu could (and should) do much for Linux and computing in making it more ecological. Changing an icon is trivial (and perhaps nerdy), but gives an impact that I think is surely needed in the computing world today.
Yes, the “old bulb” is a typical symbol for ideas, wouldn’t be interesting then to see how far you can stretch that symbolism before it looses its semantic meaning? And, again, that symbolism is far from universal, and expanding the symbolism in new ways is both refreshingly interesting, funny and perhaps cool.
I’d say, more of these ideas! Especially in the operative system itself.

lol, I like the idea !
And it can prove that we are a cutting-edge community, always on to of technology !
It's communication and I think it's not so ridiculous.
It's a kind of funny wink, but which shows our great reactivity
so +1

+1 for thinking in the right direction, (green-er) but getting ubuntu to consume less power than M$ (see ideas #81 &94) is probably more important.
I also realize the root of this post may have been tongue-in-cheek.

Good idea!
First I thought: "Ha ha, it's a joke. Funny. But this is not the place for jokes. This is about serious ideas. It must be voted down."
Then I realized that it actually makes a lot of sense. If we want more people to start using low energy lamps (if only to reduce our own electricity bills) we could as well promote them! Go progress!

HAHA. Not really. I'll vote +1 for originality, but the incandescent is *the* idea icon, so it kind of needs to stick.

This would help to say that Linux is earth-friendly. I've noticed that Yahoo Answers has actually done the thing mentioned here.
