Idea #1982: Select by TAG in file-chooser

Written by elias1884 the 1 Mar 08 at 00:35. Category: System. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
If I want to open a file in OpenOffice, Gimp or any other application I want to be able to search the file by specifying TAGs.

Instead of searching the file in a hierarchical filesystem, I just choose the TAGs "business", "Client A", "contract" to get a list of all files tagged like that.

I also want to be able to store my data like that. I have my most popular tags where I have my bookmarks currently. I choose "business", "Client A", "contract" and give the file a name, but store it like all text files in Documents or anywhere, what do I care. I will find it by selecting these TAGs, when I want to open the file again.

apt-get install tracker

tracker is slow and bugy

Tracker doesn't work, and uses its own tags instead of a system-wide solution
