Maybe once Boxee gives some love to AMD64 users. Until then, Boxee will not be supported in Mythbuntu. (It might not be supported afterward either, but no AMD64 support is a deal breaker). And by AMD64 support, I don't mean chroots or other hacks, I mean native 64-bit support.
Boxee isn't for everyone. I tried it and didn't like it. The GUI interface was slick and great. I didn't like the social aspect of it. I have no interest in sharing my video interest with others and I have no interest in knowing others video interests.
I do agree with the rationale that an up-to-date streaming video application is urgently needed, even if it isn't able to stream proprietary video sources (e.g., hulu). There are plenty of other video sources that has decent content and can be found here.
Boxee will now work on 64-bit Ubuntu natively!! Love given, apparently. How about adding this to Mythbuntu now?
As stated by DrH, an up-todate streaming video application is urgently needed. As a long-time MythTV user, I find that more and more of my viewing is streamed (via Boxee and manually integrated with MythTV).
Currently, Boxee seems to be the easiest and best way to add this to Mythbuntu.
