Rationale
Now we have only one *normal* program to watch the TV - TVTime. But it can't work on AMD/ATI videocards, it can not scan PAL and SECAM channels at the same time, it can't show list of current tv-programs. There are many other disadvantages, but picture is good.
Zapping - crashes on pressing Preferences button, can't work with ATI etc.
KDETV - can't work with ATI etc.
XAWTV - can't work with ATI, interface is unusable etc.
Many of the videocapturing programs work only with V4L, but don't work with V4L2.
Current situation with TV-Tuner is sad, that's the idea. Sorry for my english.
This seems to be a "pass the buck" issue in all Linux distros. It's equally impossible to pin ATI down to a reason for not supporting their hardware outside of Win/Mac.
If I could get support for my PCIx ATI TV card I'd probably never boot Windows again.
I know it sounds like a dumb thing but I like having the news in a small browser window on my screen when I'm working.
