Droid fonts as default OS fonts in Ubuntu

The recently released Droid fonts were developed for Google Android by Ascender, a leading typography foundry. These fonts were released with the Apache License, and have been packaged for release in Jaunty (and available in PPAs for Intrepid and prior).

This font is easier to read, cleaner, and more professional looking than DejaVu and Bitstream Vera, the two commonly used application and menu fonts. Personally, I've used Free Sans for as long as I can remember, and Droid looks better than it.

No italics, or bolds in monospace version - useless for some programmers. They also have a lot less characters than the current defaults. They are designed for Android - which means hinting is not as good as in dejavu.
Also that's a subjective opinion, but these serifs look too condensed for a normal screen + they create very strong horizontal guides, with the small 't', scaled 'S' and others. They may be very good on android and look cool for some applications on a PC, but they would be a quite bad default :/

Droid fonts are the best option. They are MUCH better than those fonts set in Ubuntu by default. Install ttf-droid package from repositories and see them for yourself. The author should have attached screenshots to the idea, there would be more votes in this case.
