bug This idea was marked as implemented the 18 March 09.
Written by salih.emin the 16 Mar 09 at 20:03. Category: System. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: Implemented
Rationale
There is no default "junk" files cleaner in ubuntu. Well, even if these files don't affect system performance eventually nobody wants them in his system.

Selected solution (#1): Use BleachBit as system cleaner
Written by salih.emin the 16 Mar 09 at 20:03.
BleachBit is already in repository but nobody seams to have seen it.
BleachBit deletes unnecessary files to free valuable disk space and
maintain privacy. It can rid your system of old junk including broken
menu entries, cache, cookies, localizations, and temporary files.
Designed for Linux systems, it wipes clean Bash, Beagle, Epiphany,
Firefox, Flash, GNOME, Java, KDE, OpenOffice.org, Opera, RealPlayer,
VIM, XChat, and more.

It is Desktop Enviroment Independent so you can use it in GNOME, KDE, xfce etc.
