Rationale
it would be nice if the Live CD could be used to easily setup as system with encrypted LVM; currently this can only be done using the alternative install CD. This would greatly help users protect their data and privacy.
Yes but by using a "hidden" installaton program instead of the current version of ubiquity.
Or maybe by checking a checkbox saying: "I want to manage poweruser options" on the first step.
encrypted LVM is really easy to use and it transparently protects your data, i know that OSX has a similar option (but only for home directories)
ideally it should be one of the guided options, but it can cause some issues with duel boot's (if you want to use gparted later) so that may need to be tackled first.
encouraging users to protect their data is a great idea, especially for laptop users
