Idea #18355: There is no way to edit "fstab" with a GUI

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #323: Disk Manager by default.
Written by xapient the 28 Feb 09 at 14:21. Category: Usability. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: Not an idea
Rationale
I think there is a need of a graphical fstab editor eg. a program to manage mountpoints and storage devices even network drives etc.

(i don't know if there is one in Ubuntu but there is definitely none in Kubuntu - so this is maybe a Kubuntu related idea) plz don't vote down if you are a gnome fan

Solution #1: Integrate "mountmanager" in KDE Systemsettings
Written by xapient the 28 Feb 09 at 14:21.
mountmanager is a nice GUI that uses qt4 and allows to easily edit the fstab file and integrate all kinds of network or usb drives..

Written by xapient the 28 Feb 09 at 14:23.
there was an application in kde3 to do this kind of stuff but it was not really a good one.. it was not ported to kde4 so its gone for now...

Solution #1 is clearly a packaging request. Such requests do not belong to brainstorm.

Please take a look at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/NewPackages

What about pysdm and python-fstab

xapient wrote on the 28 Feb 09 at 21:04
i dont see where idea 1 is a packaging request.. mountmanager is already packed and everyone can install it!!

if you want it is a whish to integrate it into the next kubuntu version.. but even that it is not.. i want an option to manage fstab in systemsettings.. mountmanager is just an idea.. i don't know if it is even possible to integrate this app into systemsettings..

as this idea is marked as already implemented (and there is no gui for fstab in intrepid as far as i see ) could you please post a link or any information about it?
