Idea #1788: Bounties, raised through donations, for significant projects

Written by dgrt the 29 Feb 08 at 20:26. Category: Others. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
The bounties have been highly successful in some open source contexts. Would they accelerate development for Ubuntu? Would it catalyze open source projects if integrated into launchpad?

Bounties could also be integratet into brainstorm. User could bet some money for brainstorm ideas and if a developer want to develop it, all users who have bet some money are notified and they can easily pay, if they still want, through a system like pay pal.

This could be an attractive solution for developing fast, important requests.

Gah, brainstorm needs to indicate that a post has been marked as a potential dope on the main view. So you guys know I think this is a dope of http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/item/1295/ which is the same idea and has more votes going to it.
