Idea #1758: Better support for Apple hardware out of the box

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #1030: Apple Hardware.
Written by kab the 29 Feb 08 at 19:50. Category: Installation. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
The installation of ubuntu on actual Apple Hardware (Intel based) is a pain. I think there are a lot of people out there who want to install ubuntu on their Apple machines.

An easy installation in BootCamp would also be very nice and helpfull

Really? Using rEFIt I can get it to work.

I talk about easy installation and talk for users who don't want to touch the command line. For me, I had no major problem installing Ubuntu on a my 17" MacBook Pro, but my mother could not do it!

PS: Of course you have to use rEFIt since Apple hardware has no traditional Bios from the 80' and instead have a modern EFI Firmware.
