Idea #17563: Bootscreen (and login screen) are not really good lookin'

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #21: Professional-looking bootloader.

Rationale
Everybody knows that the current Ubuntu bootscreen isn't what you can call great or cool.

There are many other bootscreens but they are risky to install and only for the more advanced user. But even if you would get an easy way to install more boot screens another idea would still be better.

Even worse is that it is possible to create an amazing bootscreen if you look at for example OpenSUSE. It doesn't matter where you look but OpenSUSE always looks nice. Do know that I don't use OpenSUSE because it is a rather disappointing OS. It looks so nice, but it just doesn't work. Ubuntu does work, but it doesn't look good at all. (Until you can see your own desktop then it looks great. Only with the transparent background for the panel though (only available in the beta's of 8.10))

Solution #1: Bootscreen (and login screen) have the user's background (if possible)
Written by zwyber the 22 Jan 09 at 18:00.
My idea is to have the user's background with a loading bar etc as booting screen, and for the login screen too.

Sounds simple, to make this idea to reality is a different story, you need to load the graphics driver, load the user's background etc. But it is all possible with a lot of time and effort and it is REALLY worth it.

If this idea would be become reality Ubuntu will be the first OS with such a unique bootscreen and or login screen.

Problems (and solutions):

- Linux is a multi-user system, which wallpaper to choose?
- A new feature is that a user has multiple backgrounds on the diffrent desktops.

Maybe customize the bootscreen by using one general background for the boot and login, then not the user's background. Only do this when there are multiple "human" users, and make it an option to select how the book background behaves.

Note that this is a little brainstorm, my idea has changed while writing it, but I want that to be shown to you too. Please write your down comment, idea etc here too.
