Related project: Kubuntu.
Status: Not an idea
Rationale
Kubuntu should integrate a VOIP solution out of the box, possibly providing video support, with interoperability with Windows/OSX.
Several QT4/KDE4 solution exist. Ubuntu has Ekiga and Empathy and we need to ship the best equivalent. Softwares existing:
* Kopete: official KDE client but dont has audio/video support for XMPP yet. Decibel support in development.
* KCall: Telephony application of Kontact and based on Decibel framework.
* QuteCom: VoIP/IM solution (SIP, xmpp, msn, yahoo, aim...) with support for audio and video (on SIP conections). QuteCom is the new name for WengoPhone. PPA is avaliable here: https://edge.launchpad.net/~cavedon/+archive
