Idea #17223: Install synce stuff by default

Written by Frantique the 12 Jan 09 at 13:13. Category: Accessibility. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
Because we have a working solution for sync the handhelds devices running WM (the Synce), why we don't have it installed by default? I have several users who needs this.

It would make the life much more simple for alot of people...

I know that this idea will rise up some discussions, but think a little bit before voting down the idea!

Solution #1: Auto-generated solution of idea #17223
Written by Frantique the 12 Jan 09 at 13:13.
Ubuntu Brainstorm was updated in January 2009. Since the idea #17223 was submitted before this update, its rationale and solution are not separated. Please vote accordingly, and if you have the necessary rights, please separate the rationale from the solution. Thanks!

Solution #2: Work like a codec manager
Written by andruk the 15 Jan 09 at 10:54.
Have a way to automatically detect that a WinME device is being connected and install the appropriate software, much like the codec installer (do the same for the Palm sync utilities). That way you don't have a large application that needs to be on the LiveCD.

1) as many people, I think I'm smarter than an oyster and I think at least a bit befor voting things down.
2) Handheld devices aren't that common. I don't know if it's downloaded and installed automatically when you try to sync your device, but by default, it will consume disk space on the CD and on the PC, plus, some people have such an handheld device but a lot more doesn't.

For a default install, what should be removed from the LiveCD to make space for this?

The size is not so big. If we remove Evolution Help, it will fit. :D
