Idea #17090: Integrate a wiki with the Help system

Written by tchalvakspam the 7 Jan 09 at 03:22. Related project: wiki.ubuntu.com. Status: New
Rationale
Wikipedia is one of the most powerful sites on the web for it's ease of access and the simplicity of contribution.

Ubuntu could use the wiki format to be integrated with its help system.

Each help topic/page could have a link to the help wiki, (ubuntu.wiki.com, perhaps) and as articles became more and more solid, the information in them could probably be periodically ported back to the distro's help system itself.

wiki.ubuntu.com already has a large set of help pages...and we've seen that many pages become weaker, not stronger, with each release.

This idea will work only if wiki.ubuntu.com has enough volunteers to stay updated, clear, and useful. Else it will provide a terrible help experience.
