Idea #1682: Poll for the Ubuntu Ibex theme

Written by gyxto the 29 Feb 08 at 18:56. Category: Graphics. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
So, I think that all of you know that Hardy will not include a new theme, but Ibex(8.10) will include it.

For those how didn't know this, lokk at this link (fr) :
http://www.cedynamix.fr/dotclear/index.php?post/2008/02/05/Pas-de-nouveau-theme -pour-Hardy-Heron

Or to this one for english :
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=665874

So, there is my idea : Why do not ask canonical to do a poll for all the community to vote for that theme we want for Ibex?

For exemple, vote for a specific icon, metacity or gdm theme. Or vote for specifics colors. So, if canonical do a poll, we will see wath the community want, and the new theme will be better!

Tell me want do you think please ;)

Scuse me for my bad english

I think they're very aware of the brand identity issue and it's strongly linked with warm / brown colors. What I think would be best is to default to whatever the Ubuntu default has to be and have themes available in all sorts of other colors. A lot of people like blue for instance, there should be a blue theme. I like orange and grey but not brown....

There's nothing wrong with a brown theme. We just don't want them to use an UGLY brown theme for the default.
