Idea #16719: Show search resaults as they're found

bug This entry was marked as not being an idea the 5 January 12. If this is a bug report, please use the Ubuntu bug tracker.
Written by lophie the 22 Dec 08 at 06:16. Related project: Nautilus. Status: Not an idea
Rationale
Show the resaults of the search as they're found.
My idea is so simple and clear. the file search in nautilus shows the resaults after finishing the search. this is often a waste of time since the file the user wanted is already found! why we waste time by waiting for the end of the search? I think if the resaults appear as they're found is way better and efficient. that is my idea.

Solution #1: Auto-generated solution of idea #16719
Written by lophie the 22 Dec 08 at 06:16.
Ubuntu Brainstorm was updated in January 2009. Since the idea #16719 was submitted before this update, its rationale and solution are not separated. Please vote accordingly, and if you have the necessary rights, please separate the rationale from the solution. Thanks!

The search should be on a separate thread from the search window, so you could keep typing as fast as you normally do, without waiting for results to appear.

Isn't this already done? I just did a search and results were displayed yet the 'stop' button was still visible. Then about 10 seconds later another search result was added and the stop button went insensitive. 2.24

Are you sure about this? because I suffered this problem long time ago and I just checked it again right before posting this idea while I had the latest updates.
Still the same!!!!

If the existing search method seems inconvenient to you, please file a bug report against Nautilus for this issue or direct your suggestion to the Nautilus developers at http://live.gnome.org or on IRC at irc.gnome.org #nautilus.

Closing in Brainstorm.
