Idea #16063: Evince plugin for firefox

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #366: PDF web browser plugin.
Written by gochogocho the 29 Nov 08 at 14:20. Related project: Evince Document Viewer. Status: New
Rationale
Evince should have a plugin so we can view pdf's on firefox.
Gnome is about doing things in a simple way, so i think having a browser that can handle some kinds of files, will simplify our work.
Imagine, you click a link to a pdf or a text file, and it just open like a page in the browser.

http://planet.gnome.org/wsop2006/ - does the mozilla plugin already exist?

This can already be done. See the "mozplugger" package.

I guess the WSOP link wants to point to http://handlet.blogspot.com/2006/07/wsop-first-screen-shot-of-evince_20.html -- the whole WSOP2006 aggregator page is huge, and doesn't seep to have anything more on this topic.

I really se no use in embedding the pdf-viewer in the browser.

gochogocho--
Firefoks is bloated enough. Give the poor program a rest, and maybe a coronary.

Yeah, I prefer viewing pdf's in the pdf viewer too.

Well, it's just an ideia i like. If you agree vote up if you don't agree vote down. Gnome is about doing things in a simple way, so i think having a browser that can handle some kinds of files, will simplify our work. This is open to debate, but a don't want to go that way.
