Idea #15373: create gnome 3 category

Written by yzarc the 7 Nov 08 at 16:35. Related project: brainstorm.ubuntu.com. Status: New
Rationale
I believe it's time to start brainstorming about gnome 3. Creating a new category in our brainstorm we will have a good pool of ideas and also a profile of the ubuntu's users concerning what they are waiting for gnome 3 before the coding really get started.

Ubuntu as main dist that adopts gnome as default will get involved in this project sooner or later. So let's start contributing.

The Gnome 3 ideas I've seen at Gnome.org are generally more advanced, better developed, and better described than the ideas I've seen here.

that's why it's called BRAINSTORM. It exists to open your mind not to take as blueprint.

@cheesehead
Right, the average level of Brainstorm's ideas is so poor...

I see no specialized category for KDE 4.2, but that doesn't stop me to propose a idea for something that I would like to see in future KDE releases. So I don't think Ubuntu brainstorm needs a special category for Gnome 3. Or if this would be implemented then it should be done for KDE4 to.
Anyway I think that every idea that proposes a feature that Gnome 2 lacks is a potential Gnome 3 idea.
So I see no need for this , 0.

PS: How far did is Gnome3, anyway?

Primož Papič, Everyone can propose to gnome 3.0 but if we have a category the people would be stimulate to do it.
Another point is that there are features that we can desire to the gnome 3.0 but for gnome2.x don't. with the brand new gnome we have more freedom to propose without be tied to ald dependences of hardware and software.

cheesehead, the gnome community will do its work but they will apply their vision. Ubuntu's user should be listened since is the major group of gnome users. Of course we will see lots of silly ideas, but it's a brainstorm and among the bad there will be good ideas and the sum of all ideas, even the bad ones, represents a direction to follow.
