Idea #15159: Notification when DST time changes automatically happen

Written by hunt.topher the 2 Nov 08 at 19:22. Related project: Evolution Mail and Calendar. Status: New
Rationale
Daylight Savings Time time changes happen automatically on Ubuntu - which is a pleasant addition, but it would be even more pleasant to have a popup notification of this for two reasons:
1) We get positive, explicit acknowledgement of DST by the system. This adhere's to the ideal of keeping the computer's operations completely transparent to the user.
2) We get a reminder about DST so that we can change any analog clocks.

Well, if you choose to implement this feature - use the "lightbulb" for "More Information Available"

Don't flash the user with annoying messages.

hmm that's good idea
-sometimes i forgot about it and get up to early/late
but the LIGHTBULB notification would be better-i hate closing pop-up windows

so +1 but with Lighbulb

Yes, I had some trouble because I didn't get such message :D I think it does not need a lot of work on it, and would be a pretty nice feature.
+1

Also worth noting that those of us dual booting, if you boot ubuntu (and clocks change) then boot windows - windows changes them again.

It might be nice if this could avoided - though I am not sure how.

Good idea, but should be possible to be turned off (or on) in the time settings to avoid too much unwanted spam on the desktop. (I know, only twice a year, but still...)
