Rationale
While requesting features to the open source community which consist mainly of free workers, we may often forget to say how much we like Ubuntu and look like costumers requesting.
So you can say thank you to the thousands of developers and users who gave their time by voting for this article :)

Developer comments
I'm glad you like it. I've passed your message on to the developers in #ubuntu-devel on IRC.
if this is just adding noise, then ignore it and that will help. Personally, the louder this idea gets (the higher it is voted up) the less noise it generates because it will be on the 'most popular' list and therefore won't be showing up in all the other good searches.
This IS the place b/c most developers heads start hurting seeing all these requests that must be filled so a little reminder in the middle that they are appreciated is not a bad thing. Remember Ubuntu is about people too. :)
Thank you to all the developers (whos hard work is the bloodline of this distro), brainstormers / creative thinkers, testers / regression testers, QA personal, translators, documenters, Linux community, Linus, Mark S., the beautiful Linux fans, users, haters (yes, we love you too), and anyone missed. We wouldn't be here without everyone one of you! BRAVO!
I would like to personally thank the Ubuntu developers for this, the finest of OS's, Ubuntu. I am going to school to learn programming and hope to one day contribute to the Ubuntu project. In the meantime, I try and give back by seeding Ubuntu (and other worthy distros) on Bittorrent 24/7 and I incourage others to do the same because this helps cut down on bandwidth costs.
You're right! it's not the place!!!
Still...
Thank you thank you thank you thank you........ tahnk you thank you....... X1000!!!
Y'all are great, keep developing!
Peace!
Some of you don't understand; this IS an idea. the OP is suggesting we have a place where we can thank the developers for all their hard work, instead of having so many places. The OP just decided to use this idea as a place to say thanks for now.
Ubuntu Rocks - I am coming up on one full year of being PURE ubuntu at home, no windows boxes on my networks; I have even convinced my employer to allow my ubuntu laptop on his tight network once I demonstrated security standards and encryption Ubuntu offers.
Thanks for everyone's hard work in this initiative.
A first real alternative for desktop users
(not only coolhackers)! While not ideal yet,
it's talent grows exponentially fast.
When international date&time format in apps
be made useable (and I sure it will be), I be will
strongly recommend only Ubuntu for all my friends!!
Thank You All, from Russia!
I like it very much and it is great to see its development over time. Ubuntu is already a cool Operating System and all of you developers are doing a great job in making it better.
I realised a few days ago, I have stopped fighting with Linux. I have been using for 2 years, it used to be painful, always configuring it or trying to get software /hardware working. Now it just works. Both Linux/Ubuntu have come a long way and also my education in Ubuntu.
Now things (almost all things) are simply pleasant and I hardly get annoyed anymore.
