Rationale
Currently we have to install additional software (sometimes full of bugs ) to sync our Nokia or Sony Ericsson phone.Some phones can be firmware updated with Nokia Software Update , but that application is just for Windows .

Upgrading Firmware through Ubuntu would be nice but indeed, this is something NOKIA or Sony-Ericsson should do (but they won't).

Perhaps some "Phone sync/management software" should be included in the future? One that supports several platforms, instead of several apps...

+1 as this sounds pretty ideal (we all pretty much own mobiles these days, if not several.)

I have a Sony Ericson nd when I put it into 8.10 it allowed me to transfer or use it as a modem.

You must be using 8.04
