Description
Why is it for a lot of windows users so hard to adjust to another os? This is a question i ask myself.

When upgrading from xp to vista i offiously noticed the many differences but still it's a lot of easier to adjust from upgrade to upgrade than to another os.
I tried ubuntu for 1 year without any other os and i still could not get comfortable with it while i deeply wanted it.
I know for sure that a lot of other have this same problem.
It's like windows is wired in your brain when u are using it for a long time.

Do not misunderstand me, i do not want to transform Ubuntu to a windows lookalike linux distrubution.

Maybe there are other solution to solve this problem.

When learning a new language it is easier to learn a language with basicly the same rules than a language who has completely other rules.

I think that most people are used to the "windows logic".
Maybe we can analyse this logic and make some changes so that it becomes easier (for a lot of people) to using ubuntu everyday and as primary/main os.

Keep up the good work!

I think people are more used to Windows' monopoly over the computer industry for the last 15 years.

Also, I think people are marking you down because you didn't even come up with a suggestion as to what Ubuntu should do to make you more comfortable, you simply stated that "Windows is wired in my brain and I' uncomfortable with Ubuntu".

Try submitting some ideas on specific aspects of Ubuntu that would make Ubuntu easier to work with for you, and see if others agree.

see here as to why you are having a problem

btw I marked you down, of course it is different, it is like cars versus motorbikes. They are different, and they are different for a reason.

As much as I like Linux/Ubuntu, there are a few things that I think Windows has better:

1. File manager. Nautilus is nice but navigating and customizing the interfaces is just far simpler in windows.

2. Delphi. Could not get it to work under Wine.

3. Uniform look across apps. In linux, firefox, wine and open office can't agree on a single look and feel for windows eleemnts (scroll bar, menus, etc.).

4. Software compatibility.

I could go on.

I think the best way to transition to a new OS is to have dual-boot. Other than that, the user needs to be generally interested to try something new or it just isn't going to happen.

Ubuntu needs to continue like it has done, being a perfectly usable OS for its own users, it should not need to cater to people that are not using it.
