Idea #1467: Portable Settings

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #16: LiveUSB.
Written by dhwwwops the 29 Feb 08 at 14:55. Category: Installation. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
What I could really use is a portable file/script (stored either on a portable device & or secure website), that would enable me to boot *ubuntu from a LIVE CD then execute the file or run the script which would:

-Configure the system with my preferred settings,

or

-Provide a pop up window with checkboxes for me to choose the settings required for that session then configure the system.
Also provide a window with checkboxes to allow me to save selected modified settings back to a portable USB drive at the end of my session.

Portable Settings suggestions:
Bookmarks
Screen Resolution
Wireless Networks
Web Proxy Server
Instant Messenger Settings
Passwords

Feel free to add to the idea :)
